Flinders Black Garlic is a small, family owned and operated farm in Flinders on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. Set on 84 acres and accompanied by two kids and 17 alpacas, they produce around 2 tonnes of fresh garlic each year which then turn into theur signature Black Garlic.
Their journey started in 2013 when they traded the hustle and bustle of inner-city Melbourne for a slower-paced life in picturesque Flinders. They didn’t want to commute for work so decided a career change was in order and turned their hand to farming. Garlic wasn’t an obvious choice at first, but after a lot of research and a couple of years of crop testing, they decided it would suit their property and climate best. A random conversation with some friends introduced them to black garlic and by chance, they had found our niche.
From the start they wanted to use organic farming principles to grow the highest quality, fresh Australian garlic. The entire crop is planted, tended and harvested by hand. It’s a big job and one they absolutely love, even at the height of winter! Once the harvested garlic has cured, they select the best bulbs from the crop and those of their trusted Victorian suppliers to begin the process of producing premium Australian black garlic.
