Fingal beach walking trail

For a while now we have all been chomping at the bits to go out and about and now we finally can. The possibilities are endless and excitement level is so high, it's hard to decide where to start.

Fingal

While density quotient still applies, the easiest and most worry free outing would be out in nature. Blessed with wild secluded beaches and National Parks, the Mornington Peninsula is riddled with trails criss crossing from one side of the bay to the other, whether you’re a trail blazer or an occasional stroller, there’s something for everyone.
One of our favourite trail & coastal walks are the Fingal Beach trail. It is fun and mostly easy with a killer set of 450 steps that are not for the faint hearted. Mind you, I have taken my children down that trail, except for a few moaning and groaning climbing up, it was super fun. Lots of lollies on the way up did the trick.
November is perfect time to do this trail as the mornings are crisp and the afternoons are warm and sunny, perfect for a beach picnic.
Start from Fingal Picnic area on Cape Schanck Rd. and follow the signs towards Fingal Beach. A return trip is about 5km and around 2 hours. Don’t forget to order your picnic bags.
If you are after something more challenging, start in the same spot but keep going to Gunnamatta beach, and return back through the coast, and come up Fingal steps, back to the same track. It will double the length so make sure you’ve got all the supplies you need.
